Athletics Wollongong’s 2026 Annual General Meeting will be held in the Wollongong Tennis Club boardroom on Tuesday, June 9th from 7:00pm.  The Tennis Club is part of the Beaton Park sporting precinct; the boardroom is located upstairs, off the Court View function room where our Presentation Night was recently held.

Athletics Wollongong, like all incorporated associations, is required by NSW Fair Trading to hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM).  The Club Constitution determines how such a meeting must be called and conducted.  Consequently, the information below may seem a little formal, but we do have some boxes to tick. 


AGM Agenda

  • Confirm the minutes of the last AGM
  • Receive reports from the Committee regarding activities of the Club during the preceding financial year
  • Receive and consider the Club's financial statement
  • Elect the Club's office-bearers and support position holders for Season 2026/27 (see below)
  • Elect Member Club Representatives to ANSW for the coming year


Information on elections

The Athletics Wollongong Committee and Support Position roles available are listed below.  Descriptions of each role can be viewed via the links in the headings.

Those elected to the Committee or a Support Position must have an Athletics Wollongong membership, or pursue one prior to the July Committee Meeting (note that a free Volunteer registration will suffice).

AW Committee (must be 18+ and have/get a Working With Children Check number)

Public Officer (must be 18+)

- Uniform Coordinator (WWCC number required)
- Junior Athletes' Representative (WWCC number required, if age eligible)

- Wednesday Comp Organiser
- Timing Coordinator
- Grants Officer
- BBQ Coordinator
- Equipment Officer
- Fundraising & Sponsorship Officer
- External Results Coordinator
- Archivist

If you intend to nominate, please forward your completed nomination form to athleticswollongong@gmail.com at least 7 days prior to the AGM.  If only one nomination is received for a position by this means, then the person nominated will be taken as elected at the meeting.  For any positions remaining unfilled thereafter, nominations can be made at the AGM itself.

In the case of multiple nominations being received for one position, a discussion will take place regarding whether the nominees are content to job-share, or whether one or more nominees would like to withdraw their nomination (and perhaps nominate for another available role).  Failing a resolution, a vote will take place in accordance with the Club Constitution.

 

Members unable to attend the Annual General Meeting may forward a Proxy Voting Form to athleticswollongong@gmail.com at least 24 hours prior to the meeting, or have it presented at the Meeting prior to its commencement.


Any roles left unfilled at the AGM's conclusion will remain open, with the hope that either new members joining for 2026/27, or changing circumstances of an existing member, will see it taken on at a later date.  Note that the positions on offer are considered what's necessary to give athletes and their families the best possible member experience.  If some duties aren't performed, or if only the minimum necessary done, then we all miss out.  As such, members are strongly encouraged to consider whether they can lend a hand.
