James Turner off to Dubai

17 May 2019

Athletics Wollongong's James Turner was recently announced as one of the first members of Australia's team for the upcoming World Para Athletics Championships.  The event will be held in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, 7th - 15th November.

James' automatic selection in the squad followed his remarkable success at the 2017 London Worlds.  He will go to Dubai as the defending World Champion, having won three gold medals in London in the T36 200m (in World Record time), 400m and 800m.

James has so far been selected to contest the T36 400m event, no doubt hoping to break the World Record in that event also, after having gone close recently at the National Championships.  He already holds the 800m World Record, set at the 2016 Rio Paralympics.
